About FlagCrack

Real games, tested rules, no fluff

FlagCrack exists to make outdoor games easy to run, so anyone can grab a guide, set up in minutes, and get a group playing.

Why FlagCrack exists

Most game “rules” online are either three vague sentences or a wall of text that nobody reads before a game. Neither helps when you’ve got a restless group in front of you and ten minutes to explain the rules. FlagCrack was built to fix that. Every guide covers what you actually need: how to set it up, how to play, how to settle the arguments that come up, and how to keep it safe.

We started with capture the flag because it’s the game everyone half-remembers but nobody quite agrees on. One person’s jail rule is another person’s respawn. So we wrote it all down clearly, then covered every way to play it, from nighttime to indoor to Nerf.

Who writes these guides

Roger Stockton, founder of FlagCrack

Roger Stockton

Founder & lead writer, FlagCrack

Roger grew up playing capture the flag at summer camp, and he still runs games for neighborhood kids today. Every guide on FlagCrack comes from that hands-on side of things: rules that have been tested on a real field with a real group, not copied from another website.

That’s the whole basis for how these guides are written. Not from theory, but from actually setting up the field, splitting the teams, and refereeing the disputes when two kids swear they weren’t tagged. If a rule causes an argument in real life, we explain how to settle it, because we’ve had to settle it ourselves.

How we write a guide

Every FlagCrack guide follows the same standard, so you get the same quality whichever game you’re looking up:

  • Tested, not theoreticalRules come from real play, so they actually hold up on a field.
  • Only what you needSetup, play, disputes, and safety. No padding, no life story before the recipe.
  • The arguments includedWe cover the calls that cause fights, because those are the ones you’ll actually face.
  • Safety treated seriouslyEvery guide has a real safety section, not a throwaway line.

Who FlagCrack is for

Camp counselors, teachers, youth-group leaders, parents, and anyone who’s ever been handed a group of kids and told to “keep them busy for an hour.” If you need a game that runs well and rules everyone can agree on, you’re in the right place.
